Full Moon in Leo

Intuitive Message for the Leo Full Moon:
We the People

by Julia Bondi

We the people…are the United States. It is our voice that will shape our American future. What do we hear when the corporations speak for us, when the corporate media speaks for us, when the Pentagon speaks for us, when the lobbyists speak for us? Do we hear the open hearted love and generosity for which the American people are internationally beloved, demonstrated again in the outpouring of volunteers, money and concern rushing to the aid of the people of the ravaged nation of Haiti? Do we hear the visionary call to action for the social betterment of all people whose rights to dignity, a decent standard of living and good governance were guaranteed to them by their creation? We the people were all created equal, our American ideal.

At this full Moon the Sun is in Aquarius, the archetype of human dignity and equality while the Moon is in Leo, the archetype of love and generosity. These United States were birthed in rebellion. Our founders were rebels with a cause, the cause of an Aquarian vision of a better world in which free people could be guaranteed their rights as citizens created equal, entitled to equal opportunity, equal protection under the law and the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Men and women with strong, brave hearts devoted their lives, their fortunes and their sacred honor to the first country to dare believe that what had never been could be. Truly they are heroes and heroines whose lives offer us a template for our own.

Neptune completes its journey through the sign of Aquarius over the next several years arriving at its conjunction to the United States natal Moon in 2010 and 2011. This will be the first time since the 1840’s that the people of this country, represented by the Moon in Aquarius, will be asked who we want to be over the next several centuries. Not only are the people as a whole represented by the Moon, women in particular are represented by the Moon. In the 1840’s neither women nor slaves could vote, neither was considered fully human nor therefore deserving of the same rights as white men. Even so, men and women alike were joining with free blacks to fight for the abolition of slavery which would lead to the growing demand for all human freedoms and rights, a fight which continues today. Looking back at inspired men and women of that time who saw a world in which the subjugation of others must end and spoke out, we must ask what do we see and what will we demand for our future.

The light of this full Moon carries the inspiration that can swell our hearts with pride in what we the people have already accomplished, that firm foundation ready to support this era’s rebels with a cause. What cause do these times demand that we believe in enough to fight the entrenched powers that defend the status quo? The lighting bolt of Aquarius was created to break up, to blast through, and to destroy that which is entrenched in our lives, our beliefs, our hearts and our world. Let us rise to Thomas Paine’s call to begin the world anew.
