 Moon beautyMoon Potions

a note from dana gerhardt

Three years ago I made a lucky discovery. I found twelve little cobalt blue bottles filled with Sue Morris’ astrology oils. I call them "Moon Potions" because that’s what they are to me. They’ve become the single greatest link to my daily moon practice. For each moon sign there’s a bottle of grapeseed oil infused with the energetically appropriate herbs and flowers. First I warm the oil by rubbing it between my palms, then I hold it to my nose and drink in its subtly evocative scent. I move my energized hands through the aura field up and down my body. Finally I massage the moon potion into my skin. And while I'm doing all of this, I meditate on the qualities of that day's moon. I used to keep in tune with the moon by consulting a daily moon calendar, a mental practice. Now I go to straight to the source—my body. The moon rules—and lives in—the body. It’s here that moon signs are most optimally absorbed.

Sue Morris is an herbalist and an astrologer. She plants by the moon and selects her organic herbs according to the Doctrine of Signatures, a medieval system that identifies each plant with its corresponding sign and times its harvest to the planetary hours. This insures that all the ingredients are picked at the moment when their curative powers are at their height. Every one of Sue’s oils is crafted with magical intent. There are no artificial ingredients.

For about eight months I went without my daily ritual of moon potions. I missed them! My skin was not nearly as soft—and my awareness of the moon definitely suffered.

If you’re interested in adding these wonderful oils to your daily moon practice, order them from Sue's website: http://www.suesalves.com.
