Rituals lift us from mundane concerns and connect us to the greater flow of things.  Our MoonCircles CyberRitual is a monthly experiment in collective attunement -- to each other and the moon.  Across time zones, we collect our creative energies into a healing meditation, as a gift to ourselves and the world. At the New Moon we synchronize in real time "on the astral plane."  At the Full Moon, one by one, we greet Luna at moonrise from our respective spots on earth.  If you can't meet with us at these ritual times, feel free to harmonize at a time of your own convenience, so that our astral voices may continue throughout the moon's waxing and waning cycles, as in a round.
Scorpio Full Moon CyberRitual

For this Full Moon ritual you will need a small dish of water and a small dish of earth (and binoculars if you have them!).

Tonight the moon is full in earthy Taurus, opposite the sun in mysterious Scorpio.  Contemplating this interplay of stellar forces we ask:  How do the regenerative powers of Scorpio combine with fertile Taurus? What moon magic emerges -- when transformation meets sensuality and pleasure?  Perhaps you'll find a mysterious power in something routine and everyday -- or maybe you'll achieve a new level of comfort with a strange situation.  It is a propitious moment to seek transformation.  For moon priests and priestesses everywhere, it is, as well, a time to symbolically reenact an ancient fertility ritual within the temple of your own modern life.

Preparation
Choose a spot that allows you a good view of  the Eastern horizon, where the moon will rise just after sundown.  (If you are unable to meditate outside, call upon your imaginative powers).  You may wish to spend some moments preparing your moon altar: arranging your ritual objects; burning sage; or lighting a candle to invoke the protective presence of the illuminated souls and ancestor spirits. Initiate your ceremony by reciting a prayer or sacred phrase.  Chant or play a piece of serene music that, like a sacred vessel, holds your consciousness away from the distractions and worries of everyday life, in an island of serenity.  As you attune to the natural rise and fall of your breath, feel your center within begin to steady, and your spiritual senses become heightened.

Raising the Energy
In the charged beauty of this moment, observe the moon as it slowly rises above the horizon.  Experience nature as she responds:  the wash of light that pervades the air with a soft luminescence; the joyous expectancy of the animals, trees, and insects as they rise up to greet their goddess.   If you've brought your binoculars, train them on the moon, and watch for autumn's ancient migration of songbirds enacted against her stage.  Listen to the song of the wind in the branches of the trees, the bird calls, the chirping crickets. As your soul expands in this spacious moment, even the sounds of civilization, such as cars honking and voices calling out, become woven into nature's full moon symphony.  Feel the defenses that normally separate you from the container of nature melt away in the moonbeams; now you, too, are a part of creation basking in this nocturnal light of the moon.   Where will you migrate tonight?

The Heart of the Ritual
Open your senses to the radiant moonlight; become aware of the sun and the moon, present now, as two powerful, energetic forces.  Each is a swirling vortex of energy, equal to the other. Like magnets, the two bodies are drawn to each other in a mating dance as old as time.  Eros -- the loving, life-giving energy that is the matrix of all creation -- charges the atmosphere with intensity. Everything becomes infused with the erotic force generated by the attraction between Scorpio Sol and Taurus Luna.  Next, close your eyes and concentrate on your heart.  Feel within the center of yourself these two sky lovers drawing together as one in their mating ritual.  Their love generates a deep feeling within you of promise, possibility, and potential.  The passion of their union brings heat, a burst of fire, a crackling of light - then the birth of a new creation, a beautiful star.

Open your eyes again, and open both hands in front of you, as though receiving from the heavens the abundance of this juicy creativity, streaming down from the vibrant union of Scorpio and Taurus.  Now anoint your subtle, magnetic body with this energy:  raise your hands slightly above your head, turn them inward, and move them slowly down along your face, chest, hips, legs, to finally ground the energy through your feet into the earth.

Place the dish of water in your right hand and the dish of earth in the palm of your left hand. Concentrate, for a moment, on an area of your life that is dry -- void of life or inspiration. Next, pour the water into the earth; set the dish of water down; then with your finger mix the earth and water together.  As you do this, imagine that the generative power of Scorpio, water, is fertilizing dry earth with life energy.  That which was dust in your life has become regenerated with new promise.

Closing
Moving in the moonlit darkness, take your sacred mud to an open piece of land.  Mix your ritual mud with the earth.  Bringing your two hands together in the gesture of prayer, bow to the earth and the new promise of creativity in your life.  Close your ritual with a prayer of thanksgiving. Ask that your full moon visions and healings be blessed by the Divine. Then extend your circle of blessings to yourself, your close friends and loved ones, and the rest of the world.  Bow to the moon.
