FULL MOON UPDATE:
December 11, 2000

NEW MOON:  November 25, 2000
3:12 p.m., PST; 6:12 p.m. EST
The Moon and Sun are joined
at 4.00 Sagittarius

Sabian Symbol:
A child learning to walk with the encouragement of her parents.

What does listening to the zodiac do for us at each moon cycle?  It attunes us to the yet living quality of this ancient rhythm.  It sharpens our senses to new ways to bring ourselves forth.  It puts us on the alert -- as an animal living in the wild -- to something new in the air...

New Moon 'Scope
by Dana Gerhardt

"I've got some good news ... and some bad news"

So here's the sky-picture:  The Sagittarius New Moon is widely conjunct king-of-the- underworld Pluto; then opposed by generous Jupiter and humorless Saturn.  This combination screams "Little Nicky, Santa Claus, and the Grinch."  Perhaps one or more of these characters has shown up in your life already.  If so, just sit down and breathe with them till you can feel content.  After that, your next group move will becomecome clear.  Otherwise, your assignment is to invite all three to the table and devise some Sagittarian scheme everyone can agree upon.  Make sure it's got elements of happiness, trickster passion or power, and denial.   Eat the last of your pomegranates, shop with restrained generosity, indulge yourself with discipline, let go as often as possible.

The New Moon chart provides a sketchy storyboard for each month's coming attractions.  This one is easy.  With half the country split down the middle, there's one half that's gonna be happy (Jupiter) and one that's gonna be screamin' they wuz robbed (the Saturn crowd).  Or, it will continue to shift back and forth between them as it has been doing.  Eventually, however both will need to transform (Pluto) if they're going to conduct power rather than just keep struggling for it.  Sagittarius taps the glass and asks an important question:  Does the truth belong to one half and not the other?  Sagittarius rules judges and lawyers because they're the ones officially assigned to the task of reaching for the truth.  Right now, however, we all are.  Perhaps if we all click our heels and wish, everyone can absorb what just happened, and go for the light.

Recently Mercury and Uranus squared.  An inspiration came to you.  Perhaps you tossed it away.  But look out your window and see if there's a beanstalk growing that you should climb.  There may be giants up there, but also treasure. You might need your wits, but you can succeed in the end.  Think three months ahead.  What do you want, not for Christmas, but next February?

And if that's not enough, watch for some old love (physical or otherwise) to return with Venus conjunct the South Node.  While you're waiting, settle in for a cozy read by the fire.   Check out our books page for what some of us are reading lately.  If you've got any good recommendations, let us know!

December Sun Sign Astrology Highlights
by Lynn Koiner, P.M.A.F.A.

SAGITTARIUS (November 22-December 21): Do not spread yourself too thin from December 6 through 12. The Crisis Full Moon can cause you to make some very bad decisions. If it is important, it can wait until the 18th. Your visionary sense of the future can inspire others on December 23 but you need to focus on a very specific goal!

CAPRICORN (December 22-January 19): Don’t get discouraged when some part of your plans gets dropped by December 3. It would have been too costly. You get your way by the 4th. December 8-9 and 22nd favor opting for something different, an innovative solution or a non-traditional approach. A Solar Eclipse highlights great success with projects commencing on December 26.

AQUARIUS (January 20-February 17): What starts out with lots of enthusiasm on December 6 will prove costly due to unrealistic expectations. Sidelines and distractions on December 11 will bring some lucky breaks. You feel challenged by the new ideas discussed. December 18-19 is a great time for organizing a successful project and connecting with a relationship – both move very quickly.

PISCES (February 18-March 19): Compassion and generosity can put you in the holiday spirit but back away from selfless giving on December 8, 14-15. Commitments made will take too much of your time and it still may not work. December 25-26 have wonderful aspects, not just for the holidays, but for making positive plans for the future...and they will be successful!

ARIES (March 20-April 19): From December 6 through 12, a Crisis Full Moon period, you will be challenged with emotional tensions around you. You thrive on taking charge in a crisis. Back off! The problem is emotional, not reality based. December 23 is a great time to initiate an exciting career or financial decision.

TAURUS (April 20-May 20): While you love the good things in life, you are reasonable. The transits this month favor cutting costs, trimming the excess but taking an innovative approach, especially on the 8th, 9th and 22nd. Your pride can make you vulnerable on December 14-15. Say NO to demands!  A great turn of events can occur on December 23. Climb out of your rut and take a risk!

GEMINI (May 21-June 20): From December 6 through 12, too many irons in the fire can make you a bit crazy. Back off and take a deep breath - it’s the Moon, not you! December 18-19 is a great time to be out and about and meeting interesting people but relating gets complicated on the 21st. If you had wanted "complicated", you would have been born in November!

CANCER (June 21-July 22): December is a time when you find yourself overcoming problematic situations, trimming the waste and turning a profit. The bad-to-good events are likely to occur on December 3-4, 12 and 22nd. December 23 is a great time to make some tough decisions for innovative efficiency. Be willing to take a risk!

LEO (July 23-August 22): Stubborn pride can make your life very difficult on December 8, 14-15. December 23 is a great time to fire up and make sweeping changes without trying to people-please. A new, innovative direction will make the difference. December 18-19 is a better time to coordinate. Fair play with others will make the difference.

VIRGO (August 23-September 22): As a Virgo, you can do it all – but why bother? Back away from unnecessary volunteering on December 6,8, 14, 15. You will only find yourself over-extended with no way out. On December 25-26, there are great aspects for planning your future, a future in which you are the boss, you are in control.

LIBRA (September 23-October 22): You like people, you enjoy working with congenial types and you appreciate fair play and cooperation. December 18-19 is a great time for successful team work Do not cover up mistakes or blame others. Learn from them! By December 23, be willing to bend the rules and take an alternative course.

SCORPIO ( October 23-November 21): Your need to control can get you into a tight spot on December 8, 14, 15 and 21. Know when it is not worth the effort and just let it go! Excessive costs plague so-called opportunities on December 21, 28 and 29. Try a wild card in love and money on December 23. Important plans for the future are made on December 26.
