Astrology Highlights for May/June 2001:

Gemini New Moon 'Scope:

by Natori Moore

The best description of Gemini I've heard recently comes from astrologer Trish MacGregor.  "One twin is attentive to your every need and whim; he's solicitous.  But the other twin couldn't care less."  The two-sided New Moon in Gemini may bring contact with people or parts of ourselves that demonstrate this detached dualism.

If you're an Air sign (Gemini, Libra, Aquarius), no doubt you will like the increased emphasis on light social and intellectual interchange this month.  People tend to be upbeat, breezy and mobile as temperatures increase toward summer.  It's a good time for all of us to extend our curiosity into new territory (but not TOO far afield) and try something new.  Information gathering can go well at this time, even if more serious application of effort comes later.  Comedy movies anyone?  Join the social butterflies if you find it amiable, but Earth and Water signs (that's Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn and Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces) may want to avoid the sometimes empty promises of the Gemini ambiance and let the butterflies flit right on by.

Uranus retrogrades May 29, bringing possible surprises or new awareness, especially in the house ruled by Uranus in the chart (where Aquarius is on the cusp). Mercury retrogrades June 3 through June 27 in the late degrees of Gemini, asking for slow-down, review or re-do in the matters of one's Gemini-ruled house.  June 4-5 and 12-14 are likely to be powerful or intense days, especially where it concerns firmly held opinions and beliefs, foreign cultures, transportation, and educational or political matters.  Relationships with siblings, neighbors and in-laws are also highlighted.

Best days:  Jun 14-16

TAURUS:  The New Moon occurs in your Second House of earned money, possessions and values.  New work or income opportunities may come your way.  Review where you stand financially as a basis for possible promotion or advancement.
Best days:  Jun 17, 18

GEMINI:  The New Moon occurs in your First House of action, identity and personal presence.  The spotlight is on you this month, so use it to your advantage.  Slow down to rethink the way you present yourself and you could gain dividends from far-away persons or places.
Best days:  May 22-23, Jun 19-20

CANCER:  The New Moon occurs in your Twelfth House of spirituality, retreat and behind-the-scenes activities.  This may be a mellow month for you, but next month you'll be the star.  Get your home base and money matters in order, but make time for your secret passions too.
Best days:  May 25, 26

LEO:  The New Moon occurs in your Eleventh House of friends, groups, business income and humanitarian causes.  Beginnings or changes in these areas may occur for you this month.  Being choosy in your friendships and associations could improve your marriage or chances to find love.
Best days: May 27, 28

VIRGO:  The New Moon occurs in your Tenth House of authorities, reputation and career.  You'll be more professionally active than usual this month, especially with VIPs or supervisors.  Practice patience as you review past work activities or issues, especially concerning your communication style.
Best days:  May 29, 30

LIBRA:  The New Moon occurs in your Ninth House of religion, philosophy, education and long distance travel.  New doors may open in these areas.  Let the good times roll, and take delays with a grain of salt.  Your children or romantic partners may be in the spotlight, or need extra attention.
Best days:  May 31, Jun 1

SCORPIO:  The New Moon occurs in your Eighth House of joint finances, sexuality and secrets.  Reviewing investments, deepening partnerships, and healing through counseling or therapy may be indicated.  Be patient with your moods and emotions, and consider whether a residential move or renewal may benefit you.
Best days:  Jun 2, 3

SAGITTARIUS:  The New Moon occurs in your Seventh House of partnership and marriage.  New partnerships or phases of an existing partnership may emerge at this time.  Tug-of-wars or "he said, she said" debates may foil the best of romantic plans.  No backseat driving, please.
Best days:  Jun 4-6

CAPRICORN:  The New Moon occurs in your Sixth House of work, health and service.  Start a new health regime or organize your environment for greater productivity.  Intensive activity could be in store for you this month, but expect delays, and avoid overspending.
Best days:  Jun 7, 8

AQUARIUS:  The New Moon occurs in your Fifth House of creativity, children and play.  Enjoy experimenting with new activities in your creative life or with your children.  You know you want to do it -- change your personal appearance and send shock waves through your world.
Best days:  Jun 9-11

PISCES:  The New Moon occurs in your Fourth House of home, family and property.  You may want to move or make a new beginning regarding your living space.  Spend some time journal writing or communicating with important family members to shore up your personal foundations.  Dreams will bring amazing insights.
Best days:  Jun 12, 13
