Sabian Symbol: A council of ancestors implementing the efforts of a young leader.
What does listening to the zodiac do for us at each moon cycle?  It attunes us to the yet living quality of this ancient rhythm.  It sharpens our senses to new ways to bring ourselves forth.  It puts us on the alert -- as an animal living in the wild -- to something new in the air...

New Moon 'Scope
by Dana Gerhardt

At this Pisces New Moon, let’s recall Swami Beyondananda’s prayer to the hot dog vendor:  “Make me one with everything.”

“There is no end to the world,” says my eight-year-old.  Is this some new thing they’re teaching in second grade?  Momentarily I’m lifted from the worries of nuclear winter, asteroid collisions, a premature supernova of the sun.  “What I mean is, there’s no edge you can fall off of.”  So I can cancel those awful cliff-like moments waiting in the wings.  A child molester working the streets where my son’s scooter rides; a crazed gunman approaching the stairs of my workplace; becoming a bag lady when social security disappears.  “What I mean is, you just keep walking, the earth goes on and on.”  Oh, the world is round!  That is a happy thought.  And suddenly, driving in the car with my son, I have a Pisces moment.  The sky is blue, the sun shines; dreamy and blessed, we are loved and One with everything.

Pisces stirs both faith and fears.  It drifts, is absorbent, sympathetic, sacrificing; also evasive and imaginative.  It can take us into transcendence or confusion.  It can make us poets or simply delusional.  It is the celestial clay now given for each of us to shape.  It wants to dissolve and remake our world.  And it is particularly charged this cycle, with the Pisces Sun/Moon pairing being a focal point for the T-Square from Jupiter and Mars.  You can really make things happen, not the usual thing we’d say about Pisces.  Celestial tension offers energetic possibilities.

There’s no guarantee you’ll get caught in the tension – but if you have planets in early degrees of mutable signs, you might.  What’s a T-Square feel like?  You might aspire to do something Pisces yet feel torn by the opposition between Jupiter (expansive/optimistic) and Mars (competitive/quick to anger), like an internal tug of war.  Or you might see-saw between them, feeling first this way, then that.  Or you could deny it completely -- but like a dog chained up all day, pounce the moment your limits slip off.  When you’ve got a wound-up dog, you better catch its attention with something good before you take the chain off.

As for you, the best attention-getter, in astro-speak, is the T-Square’s empty house and ruler:  in this case, precise, humble, duty-bound, work-in-the-moment Virgo.  With its ruler Mercury going direct just two days after the New Moon, you’ve got the go-ahead to clear your mind of all you should leave behind – then make decisions, sign up for things, commit yourself to some new venture.  (As for Venus and Pluto turning retrograde later this cycle, read what Lynn has to say about that!  I never said the skies weren’t complicated!)

March Astrology Highlights
by Lynn Koiner, P.M.A.F.A.

Mercury retrograde February 3 - 25, 2001

Venus retrograde March 8 - April 20, 2001

Pluto retrograde March 17 - August 23, 2001

March SunScopes:

CAPRICORN (December 22-January 19): This Spring finds many planets in Fire signs which can bring unusual business opportunities, especially if you are willing to take some calculated risks on February 26, March 24-25 and April 7. From March through July, new love will not prove long-lasting but you can re-connect with an old flame on March 18!

AQUARIUS (January 20-February 17): Since you like the unconventional and the non-traditional, the Spring planets will treat you right! February 26, March 2, and April 7 favor positive results from improving strategies with fresh new ideas. From March through May, Venus-Mars in Fire signs favor hot romance and relating experimentation. You did not want to get married now anyway!

PISCES (February 18-March 19): The brash Fire energy this Spring can make you feel quite vulnerable. Stable and reassurred relating can be found on March 4-5, 18, 31 and April 1, 13-14. While not exciting, Saturn will protect you from those who take more than they give. You often find too many of these types in your life. Examine your relating errors in March and April.

ARIES (March 20-April 19): Your ability to fight for what you want will pay off in both love and business! Many opportunities will present themselves -- love may be like a smorgasbord and you will snatch financial opportunities overlooked by others, especially on February 26, March 24-25, April 7, 22 and May 18-19. Look for fireworks with an old flame this Spring.

TAURUS (April 20-May 20): You do not trust the "flash in the pan" liaisons that seem to abound with the Spring retrogrades. Quality time, unrushed and steady, can be achieved on March 4-5, 18, 31 and April 1, 13-14 and May 25. If you are looking for shopping quality, March and April favor antiquing and flea-marketing for treasures under-valued by the seller.

GEMINI (May 21-June 20): What Taurus does not trust is a perfect match for Gemini! Lots of variety, lively conversation and sexual game-playing keep you quite busy this Spring. Your quick wit and brilliant humor will serve you well on March 10-11, 15-16, and May 27-28. March 18 favors a "two ships passing in the night" involvement.

CANCER (June 21-July 22): This Spring's "over-the-top" Fire energy can make you feel insecure but you won't show it! Your response will be to play it cool, appearing aloof as a defense against being hurt. March 8 through April 19 is a good time to re-connect with previously strained relationships. Your sincere apology will be deeply appreciated, especially on March 18, 31 and April 1.

LEO (July 23-August 22): The Storybook Romance is your ideal. Experience what love and life have to offer during the Spring; Autumn will have something more permanent to offer. If it is recognition that you seek (of course!), take action on April 11-12, 22 and May 18-19. Re-trying something that failed in the past will prove quite successful.

VIRGO (August 23-September 22): You are dedicated to perfection but you will not find it on the first try. Don't give up. The second or third attempt will be a winner. The best dates to sell your ideas with a blend of enthusiasm and logic occur on March 10-11, 15-16 and May 27-28. You consider the Spring energies a bit flighty and you know that you will be the one who has to clean up after the party.

LIBRA (September 23-October 22): Your skill lies in your diplomatic strategies and you will prove quite successful in challenging others to re-consider their views, establishing innovative coalitions and observing exactly what the other guy really wants. Your best dates are March 10-11, 15-16, 24-25, April 7 and May 27-28. True love will not be found until August.

SCORPIO ( October 23-November 21): Intense and serious, you do not take matters of the heart lightly. Finding loyalty during a cycle of fiery confrontation is questionable. Finances is another subject and you can do some successful bargain hunting in the stock market on March 4-5, 18, April 1 and 13. What is under-valued in March and April will prove a savvy buy in the long run.

SAGITTARIUS (November 22-December 21): You will have lots of irons in the fire this Spring -- in love and in business. For Sag, the grass is always greener elsewhere. This attitude will keep you on the move through September. You will be successful in selling yourself and your ideas on March 10-11, 15-16, April 7, 11-12, 22 and May 27-28.
