| What
does listening to the zodiac do for us at each moon cycle? It attunes
us to the yet living quality of this ancient rhythm. It sharpens
our senses to new ways to bring ourselves forth. It puts us on the
alert -- as an animal living in the wild -- to something new in the air... |
Scorpio New Moon 'Scope:
by Dana
Gerhardt
Over lunch recently, a friend
shared the following cartoon: The scene is the wall of a dungeon,
where two gaunt fellows hang in shackles, a foot above the floor.
Their beards are long and full of cobwebs. The floor is littered
with bones. One of the men is whispering into the other’s ear:
“Okay, so here’s the plan.”
A fine scenario for this
New Moon in a fixed sign. Scorpio’s Sun/Moon conjunction is squared
by a Uranus in Aquarius. If it starts to feel like the intensity
of Scorpio is closing in on you, go ahead and surrender to the blade.
Whatever just happened, or is gonna happen, has actually been happening,
in various shapes and guises for years now, just so you could finally,
one day, lose the hope that one of your fine plans will get you out.
Sink into the really real -- even if it’s not how you want things to be.
Release Scorpio’s panicky impulse to overpower and control. In a
light, unworried cadence, sing Star Trek’s Borg motto: “Resistance
is futile, resistance is futile, resistance is futile.”
The good news is that such
courageous acceptance can set you free this lunar month. Uranus describes
both past traumas (waiting to be released) and the flash of liberation.
There may be no greater genius than an Aquarian Uranus – it’s at
its most inventive, most creative in this sign. And its greatest
blessing is the disruption of stale, outmoded paradigms (many of which
were set up during traumas too big to face at the time). The Uranus
square says it’s time now to ground your leaking energy. Stand
still as a lightening rod; perceive spacious, wordless possibilities; call
out for “Breakthrough!” and rise above whatever illusions you’ve been fighting
or fleeing.
Here’s a quickie ceremony
sized just right for this new moon chart. Write down all the situations
where you feel stuck. Shred this page into little pieces and scatter
them into the November winds. Then with an open heart and mind, wait
for your new instructions to arrive. Before September 11 and after,
the angels have been sending us handpicked messages about what we personally
need to face – in order to awaken the planet and transcend. The best
advice this month is to read whatever has been written for you with intense
acceptance and joy.

Meditate on Persephone's
Journey, with Karri...
"As the year’s
Wheel once again turns our harvest into winter, our spiritual focus shifts
inward. With Persephone as our archetypal guide we descend into the underworld,
to confront our deepest needs, recognize our fears and hollow out our wisdom.
This is the perennial dark night journey of the soul. The New Moon in Scorpio
provides a perfect escort....."

Seek the Missing Moon, with
Dana...
"Since growing
up in the fifties, I’ve had plenty opportunity to imagine the end of the
world. Whether it came by atomic bomb or a slow poisoning of the planet,
I’ve seen myself surviving, traveling post-apocalypse with a neo-feral
pack of others, trying to re-start humanity. My gift would be my
knowledge of the moon. I don’t mean tricky moon facts like when to plant
seaweed and barley. I mean knowing where and when the moon will rise each
night. Over which mountain. At what time. In what phase.
