| What
does listening to the zodiac do for us at each moon cycle? It attunes
us to the yet living quality of this ancient rhythm. It sharpens
our senses to new ways to bring ourselves forth. It puts us on the
alert -- as an animal living in the wild -- to something new in the air... |
New Moon 'Scope
by Dana
Gerhardt
At the last new moon in Capricorn
we got down to business. We charged ourselves to be both beautiful
and dutiful, using that designing sylph, Venus in Capricorn, to make Our
New Plan come to us! Attraction is clearly more fun, so much
better than trying to think-think-think our way out of the latest box we’re
in. Even if we tried to be strictly rational, that became near-to-impossible
when Mercury went retrograde a few days after the new moon. Our
brains were loosened, so that in the gaps between our thoughts, a jewel
of a concept might suddenly shimmer, an idea that could keep us inspired
throughout the coming months. Think now: What showed up
for you?
We need this retrospective,
because the design of the Aquarius moon cycle depends on it. This
cycle will bring the next evolution of Our New Plan. Mercury has
gone direct, so what was held to the vest can now be spoken.
And, if the last new moon didn’t bring you the necessary first of this
winter’s revelations*, never fear: Mercury in Capricorn at 29 degrees is
here to play a quick catch-up and bring you on board.
Whatever place you’re
starting from, you’re scheduled for a breakthrough now. That’s
the promise of the Aquarius new moon chart (sun and moon conjunct ingenious
Uranus). This may mean nothing more (nor less!) than breaking through
the fear that holds you back from achieving your vision. Fearful
and constricted Saturn is in trine to dreamy Neptune. If there ever
was a time for imagination to be made real, for spirit to lighten the load
of the world’s heaviness, this is it.
And Venus? Oh she’s
out of business-like Capricorn and has just entered Pisces, a favorite,
silky and romantic sign for her. She’s still got her influence on
sun, moon and Uranus (conjunct them in the new moon chart) -- so we should
listen to her when she says “Don’t do anything that doesn’t give you pleasure.”
Likely it’s through a celebration of joyful pleasures that this cycle’s
breakthrough will come.
Oh, and one more thing:
if you’re in the Northern Hemisphere, this is the month to plan your spring
garden.
* Or “summer’s revelations”
for those of you in the Southern Hemisphere.

Meditate on the Mother of
the Stars, with Pythia...
"Reflecting upon the
pattern in the heavens, I was reminded of the Egyptian
Sky Goddess, Nut.
...Her body is imaged as the starry firmament bent lovingly and protectively
over earth... Among her many divine names, Nut was called The Great
Deep, The Starry One, Mother of the Sun, and Mystery of the Heavens. ..."

Explore what the daily moon
signs really bring, with Dana...
"There may be great discoveries
in store for us if we follow daily moon signs, but we must come to them
personally, or not come at all. It has taken me years of trial and
error, of working in my best lunar lab coat, to discover this simple truth.
Moon signs function not as a clock, but as an oracle, shifting their insights
to suit each of its petitioners. Like so many of the moon’s gifts,
they are alternately subtle, striking, and sublime. They can make
their way to us so personally and tenderly, that it can feel, when their
inspiration shines, like an act of love. ...."
